softbank mobile corp. Topped the cell phone industry in net subscriber increase for the second consecutive month in June. The new contracts minus cancellations came to 204800 exceeding the200000 mark for the first time since April 2003, when the company was known as J-phone Co. Softbank mobile said its new billing plan introduced in June, which offers free calls among family members as long as they subscribe to the career, is attracting new customers. In June, KDDIcorp’s net subscriber growth was 133200 and NTT DoCoMo inc’s came to 88800. Softbank’s lead over its two larger rivals widened from May. Softbank Mobile beat KDDI and DoCoMo in net subscriber growth in May for the first time since the industry association began compiling statistics in 1996. KDDI led the industry in net subscriber growth from August to April.
